Associate Scientist - Translational Research
Nutramax Laboratories is seeking an Associate Scientist in Translational Research. The role involves independent and collaborative research using cell biology, biochemical, and molecular biology techniques.
Responsibilities
* Assisting with maintaining mammalian cell culture systems for assay development, testing for cell viability and proliferation, performing cellular and molecular biology techniques as needed (PCR, ELISA, Western Blotting, etc.)
* Performing cell-based or biochemical assays to screen potential ingredients
* Performing genomic and proteomic isolation and downstream assaying
* Supporting with other functions of Translational Research Laboratory (TRL) and collaboration within the Innovation team
* Assisting with experimental design and conducting experiments on a timely basis
* Reviewing relevant scientific literature and conducting literature searches as background for designing experiments
* Sample processing, data analysis, recording data in a laboratory notebook, and writing abstracts and reports for data presentation
* Performing laboratory duties as assigned, including organizing, documenting, and maintaining equipment, freezers, refrigerators, and cell line storage
* Maintaining compliance with good laboratory practice, including maintenance of adequate research records (paper and electronic)
* Working closely with other team members to establish a collaborative and efficient working environment
* Maintaining laboratory supplies, preparing buffers and reagents
* Drafting and reviewing SOPs and lab safety records/checks as needed
Qualifications
* The ideal candidate will be able to design, execute, and analyze experiments independently and in a highly collaborative environment
* Excellent organizational skills
* At least one year of demonstrated experience in a research laboratory applying cellular and molecular biology, biochemistry, or immunological techniques (not including coursework) is preferred
* Familiarity with Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Adobe Photoshop, and statistical analysis software
Education and Experience
* Bachelor of Science (cell biology, biochemistry, immunology, molecular biology, or related life sciences) or Master of Science (preferred) in the above or related disciplines
