We are growing and developing as an organisation to meet the challenges facing our borough and we are committed to working with partner organisations and residents to make Barnet even better. As an organisation, our staff are committed to Our Values: Learning to Improve, Caring, Inclusive, Collaborative - which drive everything we do.

About the role

We have a fixed term 9 month vacancy for a Social Worker within the 0-19 Early Help South HUB Team. This post requires a Social Work qualification and relevant experience at a senior practitioner level.

Barnet's 0-19 Early Help Hubs bring together what were our former Children's Centre's, family support team, youth service, parenting support and former CAF team into one integrated service. Offering interventions across the continuum of need- including parenting programmes and youth activities, through to leading on more complex cases such as those stepping down from Social Care or joint work on statutory cases.

The post-holder will act as a conduit between social work teams and other practitioners across the local children's workforce in relation to the 0-19 Service and the Early Help Assessment process. This is to ensure a seamless transition between cases moving up, down and across the thresholds of need, between Social Care and the Early Help arena. Facilitating best practice and safe working across a range of teams and agencies.

The post will also be part of a supporting the management team, in responding to referrals requiring an 'early help' approach. In addition, for this role you will need to demonstrate that you have supervisory experience and are able to manage staff that work directly with families across the 0-19 age range.

'In addition to a comprehensive suite of employee benefits, this salary includes a Recruitment and Retention supplement of 15%.

About you

You will need to have a solid understanding of safeguarding issues and in applying thresholds of need in relation to Children's Services. You will also need to have a clear understanding the early intervention and prevention agenda. The role will also involve you initially holding more complex cases prior to allocation to a 0-19 Practitioner.

The successful candidate will also have some responsibility for supporting the Early Help Assessment process. Working in the 0-19 EH Hub team and where appropriate provide the Lead Professional role for those requiring complex Early Help Assessments. Building positive relationships with partners from a variety of backgrounds, helping them to build on existing skills and experience and gain confidence in this area. Part of the role will be to promote the use of the Early Help Assessment process and multi-agency working across the local children's workforce as the means of offering children coordinated support in a timely way, to prevent their needs from increasing.
