About the Role
Join Birmingham City University’s College of the Built Environment as an Associate Professor in Civil and Environmental Engineering. Located on a modern £300M campus in Birmingham City Centre, the College is a vibrant community committed to research excellence, high-quality teaching, and industrial engagement. We are expanding and seeking candidates with expertise in:
* Environmental Engineering and contaminant control in aqueous environments
* Climate Change
* Sustainability in Civil Engineering

Responsibilities
1. Deliver excellent teaching using appropriate methods to ensure an outstanding student experience.
2. Conduct high-quality research leading to publications in top academic journals.
3. Develop research bids and partnerships for funding.
4. Contribute to designing and updating courses in Civil Engineering and related disciplines.
5. Act as Course Lead for the BEng in Civil and Environmental Engineering undergraduate scheme.
Qualifications and Experience
* PhD in Environmental Engineering or a related Civil Engineering field, or equivalent industrial experience (e.g., Chartered status).
* High-level knowledge and expertise in Environmental Engineering.
* Ability to teach core civil engineering topics and Environmental Engineering modules at undergraduate level, including leading fieldwork activities.
* Excellent presentation and teaching skills, demonstrated through Higher Education experience or industry presentations.
* Eligibility for Chartered Engineer status.
* A strong research record with high-quality publications; industry experience with UK-based Environmental Engineering firms is desirable.
