Overview
Community Children’s Nurse (Special Schools) role at Cwm Taf Morgannwg University Health Board. The post holder will provide nursing care to children and young people who have additional/complex needs within a Special School or Observation Unit, and will work within clearly defined occupational policies, codes of practice and professional guidelines.
English and/or Welsh speakers are welcome to apply. This post is advertised as Welsh Desirable. This doesn’t mean essential; while the candidate doesn't need to have skills in Welsh, it will be considered an advantage during shortlisting. This isn’t fluency, just Speaking & Listening skills at Level 3 (equivalent to CEFR B2) or above.
The post is based in Ysgol Ty Coch Special School, Cwm Taf Morgannwg, and is term time only. The postholder will be responsible for the planning and delivery of training packages within the school and will provide ongoing support, training and supervision for a team of health care support workers and learning support assistants. They will also support the Health and MDT clinics held within the school environment.
Responsibilities
* Provide nursing care to children and young people with additional/complex needs within a Special School or Observation Unit.
* Plan and deliver training packages within the school and provide ongoing support, training and supervision for health care support workers and learning support assistants.
* Support Health and MDT clinics held within the school environment.
* Work autonomously and as part of a team; collaborate with other agencies requiring excellent communication skills.
* Work within clearly defined occupational policies, codes of practice and professional guidelines.
* Participate in comprehensive induction and ongoing training.
Qualifications and Requirements
* Registered Nurse with valid NMC registration (children’s nursing preferred).
* Experience or interest in working with children and young people with additional/complex health needs.
* Ability to work autonomously and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
* Welsh language skills are desirable (Level 3/CEFR B2 speaking & listening or above).
* Good communication skills and the ability to work with diverse agencies.
* Term-time-only position based at Ysgol Ty Coch Special School.
