Summary Stroma Building Control are looking for new apprentice accountants! You will be studying toward your Accounts Assistant Level 2 apprenticeship qualification. Wage £15,704 to £25,396.80, depending on your age National Minimum Wage Check minimum wage rates (opens in new tab) Training course Accounts or finance assistant (level 2) Hours Monday - Friday (08:00 - 16:30) 40 hours a week Start date Tuesday 23 September 2025 Duration 1 year Positions available 1 Work Most of your apprenticeship is spent working. You’ll learn on the job by getting hands-on experience. What you'll do at work The Role: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Accountancy Apprentice to join our finance team. This is a fantastic opportunity to gain hands-on experience across a variety of finance functions while working towards a recognised accountancy qualification Reporting directly to the Management Accountant, you will support both the accounts and credit control teams, gaining exposure to different elements of finance including sales ledger, purchase ledger, bank reconciliation, and management accounts Key Responsibilities: Process sales invoices using our internal CRM system and Sage 200 Post and reconcile daily bank transactions Oversee and manage shared email inboxes, responding to customer queries promptly and professionally Assist with the processing and timely payment of purchase ledger invoices and monthly employee expenses Support purchase ledger payment runs Assist with the preparation of management accounts as your role develops What We’re Looking For: Enthusiastic and eager to learn, with an interest in building a career in finance Strong attention to detail and accuracy Good organisational and time management skills Strong communication skills, both written and verbal Basic IT skills, including Microsoft Excel and Outlook No prior finance experience necessary - full training will be provided What We Offer: 28 days annual leave (including bank holidays) Hybrid working arrangement (after initial training) Company pension scheme Healthcare Cashback plan High Street discounts Ongoing training and development opportunities Support towards achieving your professional qualifications Where you'll work Stroma Built Environment Ltd, 6 Silkwood Business Park, Fryers Way Ossett WF5 9TJ Training Apprenticeships include time away from working for specialist training. Use the organisation’s standard tools and processes to examine data to identify transactional issues such as, reconciliations and inconsistencies between invoices. Recognise and rectify routine errors, escalating as necessary. Plan and review accounting and finance tasks. Communicate with stakeholders to deliver accurate and timely results, avoiding jargon, using language tailored to the audience and different media methods with an appreciation of the risks and benefits to the business of social media and other digital applications. Use finance and accounting software packages to accurately input and manage data to contribute to routine accounting tasks. Handle data and digital technology in line with cyber and data security requirements, using data securely and safely, including backing up data. Record transactional data. Requirements Essential qualifications Other in: Maths (grade B/6) English (grade B/6) Share if you have other relevant qualifications and industry experience.
