Position: Lead Manufacturing Manager
Employment type: 12 month Fixed Term Contract, 41 hours per week.
Location: Gloucester Manufacturing & Eng Centre, Gloucester, GL4 3AA
Salary: Starting salary of £60,000, potential 18% bonus and 27.5 days holiday (plus bank holidays).
Role Overview
As a Manufacturing Operations Manager, you will lead, develop, and optimise all manufacturing activities to deliver safe, high-quality, and cost-effective production. You will be responsible for ensuring performance to plan, driving continuous improvement, and building a high-performing team within the manufacturing facility.
Key Responsibilities
* Lead day-to-day manufacturing operations to achieve production targets.
* Manage labour, materials, and machinery to deliver the production plan.
* Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all standards.
* Lead, coach, and develop managers, team leaders, and frontline colleagues.
* Monitor and drive performance against KPIs including productivity, quality, and efficiency.
* Drive continuous improvement using Lean, 5S, and structured methodologies.
* Lead operational reviews and ensure strong governance of processes and standards.
* Work cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, and Planning teams.
* Manage budgets, resources, and cost controls to meet financial targets.
* Support new product introduction, engineering changes, and improvement projects.
About You
* Proven experience in manufacturing or production management within a complex environment.
* Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop and motivate high-performing teams.
* Experience in continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
* Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to use data to drive decisions.
* Good understanding of production planning, resource management, and operational delivery.
* Strong knowledge of health & safety and quality standards.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
