About the job
Do you have an inspection background in highways or a related area and are looking for a new challenge? Do you enjoy being on site but prefer a regular daytime schedule and more autonomy? Reporting to the Inspector Team Manager, you will work alone or with a team member to conduct asset condition and safety inspections, survey works, and provide feedback on asset repairs.
Working patterns are flexible by agreement, with a contractual 37 hours per week. There may be a requirement to work unsociable hours, including nights, to respond to incidents.
Note: You must be able to drive as part of your role, with no more than 3 points on your license, and live within an hour’s commute of the Depot.
Responsibilities include
* Performing regular driven safety inspections, reporting, and raising work requests for high-priority safety defects.
* Conducting cyclical and ad-hoc asset inspections via driving and walking, recording conditions and issues.
* Monitoring signage and escalating issues as needed.
* Supporting regional engineering teams with asset condition data.
* Prioritizing health, safety, and wellbeing in all activities.
About You
* Experience in highways asset condition inspections or similar sectors.
* Knowledge of highway asset maintenance and legal aspects.
* Understanding of health and safety regulations related to highway works.
* Good IT and data collection skills, familiar with data capture devices.
* Ability to manage workload independently and collaboratively.
