Senior Data Engineer
An exciting opportunity has arisen in the Data and Analytics Team at Northern Care Alliance for a Senior Data Engineer to help migrate the current on‑premises solution to a cloud‑based solution in Azure.
The Data and Analytics Team has recently undergone natural growth and progression, creating two Senior Data Engineer positions within the existing Data Platform Team. This is a fantastic opportunity to join a team that is aiming to become one of the first hospitals in the country to have a complete cloud‑based data warehouse solution.
Responsibilities
* Work within a team leading the specification, development and implementation of a hybrid on‑premise and Azure cloud data warehouse and reporting platform.
* Collaborate closely with members of the Data & Analytics Team to proactively develop and improve the trust’s data warehouse platform into a highly efficient architecture.
* Address issues within the data warehouse proactively, fixing them in a timely manner and documenting solutions for future reference.
* Demonstrate comprehensive knowledge of data engineering products such as SSIS, SSRS, SQL to triage and signpost solutions to customers and internal teams.
* Partner with the Senior Data Engineering Manager and team to identify and mitigate risks before they become critical, especially those impacting patients, service users and data platform reputation.
* Manage/support day‑to‑day operations of the trust’s data warehouse solution both on‑premise and Microsoft Azure, ensuring they run reliably through the BAU requests portal, incident and change management via Agile (Scrum) processes, and coordinating with third‑party vendors and internal/external teams.
* Design, implement, support and continually improve the new Microsoft Azure‑based data warehouse, from ingesting new systems through to staging, warehouse and reporting layers using the Kimball methodology within Data Factory/Pipeline processes.
Qualifications
While specific prerequisites are not listed, the role requires strong experience in cloud‑based data architecture, Azure data services, and data engineering best practices. Proven problem‑solving skills, effective communication and the ability to work collaboratively in an agile environment are essential.
