Employed as a staff nurse to facilitate the research pathway for participants in clinical trials. Will be directly involved in:
1. Assessing, planning, and implementing care for clinical trial participants during research visits.
2. Collection and documentation of accurate data and records of care where appropriate.
3. Providing support for a range of research studies and being flexible to work across a broad portfolio.
4. Assisting in the recruitment and retention of participants.
Additional responsibilities include:
1. Fulfilling expectations and capabilities as delegated by the Sponsor, Chief Investigator, or Principal Investigator in accordance with GCP & Research Governance Framework.
2. Working collaboratively with OUH service delivery colleagues to ensure high-quality participant care and experience.
3. Delivering Systemic Anti-Cancer Treatment (SACT).
The post holder will practice with knowledge, skills, and behaviors which:
1. Are responsible for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care during clinical research visits.
2. Require accurate documentation and reporting of patient care and research data.
3. Involve communicating complex and sensitive information to participants, carers, and staff, overcoming barriers and providing support during distressing events.
4. Include performing clinical procedures as required by the research protocol, ensuring accurate data capture, and managing peripheral and central lines.
5. Require planning own workload and coordinating research studies.
6. Include participating in and ensuring compliance with Informed Consent Procedures, within own competency, regulations, and policies.
7. Require using professional judgment to escalate issues and seek support when needed.
8. Support the research team with administrative tasks, including study setup and feasibility requests.
9. Work within approved protocols and amendments, supporting associated hospital units.
