The post holder will be an experienced Midwife who is dynamic, accessible, and a responsive leader. They should provide effective compassionate leadership, clinical expertise, and advice to the maternity team they manage. The role involves ensuring the delivery of high-quality services to women and their families, aligned with best practices and guidance at local, regional, and national levels.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Manage the delivery suite on a shift basis, including staff development and supervision, considering skill mix and dependency of care.
2. Encourage engagement with midwifery philosophy and principles to promote normal birth.
3. Contribute to setting standards, audits, research, infection control, and risk management.
4. Provide visible and accessible leadership in the clinical environment for service users, relatives, and staff.
5. Maintain professional standards in line with the NMC Code of Practice and trust policies.
6. Ensure high-quality, safe, and personalized care, fostering a positive culture and effective working environment.
7. Lead by example, supporting professional development and escalation of concerns about patient safety and quality.
8. Promote partnership working with service users and their families, involving them in decision-making.
9. Ensure compliance with national, regional, and local policies and guidance.
10. Foster a culture of reporting and challenging substandard practice.
11. Participate in audit and contribute to ward accreditation programs.
12. Maintain awareness and participation in safeguarding policies, including child protection reporting.
