Within the Wing Plant Engineering Team (PET), we are looking to appoint a Lead Design Engineer to support the Wing Component Delivery Teams (CDTs).
The PET's primary function is to provide engineering support to the Broughton Plant and its supply chain, enabling wing delivery to the final assembly lines. We focus on identifying improvements, conducting investigations, and providing technical solutions via structural and systems modifications for design for cost, rate, and quality improvements.
The successful applicant will be part of a fast-moving team delivering high-quality design solutions, working with manufacturing engineering to meet industrial system needs and maintain product integrity.
The Role

You will build a network within the wing engineering community, plant production, and support functions. The role provides support to the Plant Engineering team and Broughton Plant.
Tangible Deliverables
You will lead design investigations and formulate technical solutions for manufacturing non-conformances and design investigations, ensuring all design, airworthiness, and safety requirements are met. You will liaise with other functions to ensure integrated design solutions.
As a lead design engineer, you must hold (or have held) design approval signatory authority, particularly for manufacturing non-conformances (T200). You will guide technical issues, governance, and mentor engineering team members.
You will drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance team efficiency through methods and process improvements and maintain a lessons learned and feedback process.
Reporting on critical technical issues will be done through functional managers and delivery managers to ensure proper issue management. You will also develop stakeholder relationships across the wider engineering network.
