We have an exciting part-time opportunity (20 hours) with a permanent contract for a Senior Catering Assistant to join our friendly, busy, and dynamic Catering Team based at The Princess Royal Hospital, Telford.
The post holder will work as part of the food service team in the Catering Department and at ward level to provide and maintain an efficient catering service for both patient and commercial services. Responsibilities include serving patient meals at ward level, assisting with food preparation and cleaning in the main kitchen, and working in the central dish wash and pot area.
This role may also involve working at our Caffe Bistro in the women’s and children’s area and at the Apley Restaurant on the first floor.

Key Responsibilities:
1. Perform general cleaning duties in all areas according to departmental schedules, using appropriate cleaning materials, chemicals, equipment, and PPE.
2. Comply with hygiene, health, and safety practices in line with SOPs and current legislation.
3. Maintain high standards of personal hygiene following the Trust Food Safety Policy and legal requirements.
4. Ensure proper storage and stock rotation in line with HACCP principles.
5. Complete HACCP food safety documentation, including recording food temperatures and taking corrective actions as needed.
Our catering department serves patients and operates two retail units: the Apley Restaurant and the Caffe Bistro. Both outlets offer a variety of hot and cold meals and beverages. Additionally, numerous vending machines provide drinks and snacks across the hospital.
Our patient catering uses a cook/chill system with a range of menu options, supplied by an external provider.
