Ecologist – Nationwide
Due to the rapid growth of our internal environmental consultancy services, we're looking for an experienced Ecologist to join our Nature and Biodiversity team. In this role, you'll deliver ecological services on a variety of exciting projects across the UK, including road, rail, water, and property sectors. A full UK driving licence is essential for this position.
Location: Nationwide – travel to sites required with some remote working
Contract: Permanent, Fulltime 37.5 hours per week – flexible options available
Salary: £35,000 – £45,000 + £5,900 annual car allowance + private healthcare + excellent benefits

What will you be responsible for?
As an Ecologist, you'll act as a technical lead, providing expert advice and driving innovation in nature-based solutions. You'll oversee surveys, mitigation strategies, and licensing processes to ensure compliance and best practice.
Your day-to-day will include:
* Delivering ecological consultancy services across road, rail, water, and property sectors
* Leading ecological surveys, developing management plans, and designing mitigation measures
* Securing ecological licences and consents in line with project timelines
* Acting as Ecological Clerk of Works, supervising contractors to ensure compliance with CEMP, licences, and agreed methodologies
* Monitoring and maintaining ecological mitigation measures in accordance with planning and management plans
What are we looking for?
This role is ideal if you have:
* A degree in Ecology or equivalent experience
* Membership of CIEEM or similar professional body
* Strong knowledge of UK Habitat survey, habitat condition assessments, Defra Biodiversity Metric, and Biodiversity Net Gain plans
* Excellent report writing skills, including PEAs, EcIAs, HRAs, survey reports, method statements, and management plans
