We operate 24/7 and you will be required to work flexible hours, weekends and participate in an on‑call rota. Full training, PPE, use of company equipment will be provided to ensure that all our drainage engineers have the right tools, competency and confidence to undertake the work to Lanes’ high standard of operation regardless of background or previous experience.
Position Details
* Location: Swindon Treatment Works, Swindon, Wiltshire
* Job Type: Permanent, full‑time
* Hours: Monday to Friday, 40 hours plus every other weekend (working both early and late shifts)
* Salary: OTE £37,000 per annum (basic pay, overtime, on call allowance and bonuses)

About The Role
Due to continued growth and development, we are looking for customer‑focused people to join our Utility Division, working on our Thames Water contract service to deliver real and effective solutions to waste‑water network and drainage problems.
* Travel to residential sites in a van and operate a high‑pressure water jet for restoration.
* Clean, clear and maintain drainage systems.
* Record each job report correctly on the specialist equipment provided.
* Run diagnostics and repairs on drains.
* Deliver excellent customer service.
* Maintain good health and safety practice while carrying out works.
* Ensure vehicle stock is full and replenished.
* Comply with health and safety responsibilities, including PPE, safe site setups protecting Lanes Group employees, the public and other road users.
* Utilise VISTEC and Salesforce platforms.
* Work unsupervised in all weather conditions, wearing correct PPE and utilising the lone worker system.
* Dynamically risk assess site access and working conditions depending on specific circumstances on arrival.
* Liaise with the client regarding process and any updates.
* Provide support to your colleagues.
* Conduct thorough inspections of tools, equipment and plant before and after use.
* Report any defects or malfunctions.
* Carry out risk assessments and have a mature approach to risk perception.
* Be aware of all Lanes Group policies and your responsibilities towards them.
* Any other reasonable ad‑hoc tasks, duties or projects as requested by management.

About You
The ideal candidate will be hard‑working and respectful, comply with health and safety standards. Experience in the use of high‑pressure jetting equipment is useful but not essential. Other drainage qualifications (e.g. NRSWA and confined spaces) are an advantage. You must have a full UK driver’s licence as our vehicles are all manual.
