What you'll be doing:
This is a data role within the Commercial Pricing and Underwriting department. You will support your team in providing an innovative and effective analytical modelling and pricing platform, using blending and reporting tools such as Alteryx and Tableau with a focus on in-depth analysis of data and delivery of modelling/pricing recommendations for various commercial disciplines.
The role will be based in either London or Leeds. Our hybrid model offers a 'best of both worlds' approach. When you'll be in the office depends on your role and team, but colleagues spend at least 2 days a week in the office.
What you'll need:
1. Incorporate data into existing and new pipelines from any source/platform, supporting Pricing and Underwriting (P&U) teams.
2. Manage data processes and processing requirements for all key commercial BAU and P&U processes.
3. Assist with planning and assembling requirements for new data sources for modelling and P&U.
4. Be well-versed in Data Governance, ensuring data integrity through process checks.
5. Work closely with P&U teams, implementing structured data and producing quality MI using Alteryx/Tableau.
6. Develop your skills to maximize your contribution and explore additional opportunities through secondments or rotations.
7. Identify, own, and manage risks, communicating issues and remedial actions promptly.
8. Plan, manage, and deliver tasks and projects proactively, providing insights and recommendations.
9. Build and enhance Alteryx data models and Tableau reports.
10. Provide analytical support to inform business decisions, ensuring robustness of outputs.
11. Engage with external suppliers and internal stakeholders to meet business needs.
12. Collaborate across departments to share knowledge and understand the wider impact of your work.
13. Identify process improvements for efficiency and challenge existing practices appropriately.
14. Develop knowledge of pricing and underwriting systems, market trends, and relevant industry issues.
15. Ensure compliance with policies, regulatory requirements, and risk standards, completing necessary actions timely.
16. Promote DLG's culture and values through appropriate behaviors.
Business Requirements:
* Good understanding of General Insurance.
* Excellent data quality principles knowledge.
* Strong communication skills, capable of engaging with senior stakeholders.
* Team player with initiative.
Technical Requirements:
* At least 3 years’ experience with two or more of the following: Alteryx, Tableau, SQL.
* Relevant data experience in a similar pricing or analytical role is highly desirable.
* Degree or equivalent in a numerically focused discipline.
* Advanced knowledge of ETL processes and database structures.
Knowledge of R and Python is an advantage.
