A vacancy has arisen for a Warrant Officer / Flight Sergeant (Any Profession) to serve as WO / FS Careers Engagement (CE) in the Midlands (Mids) at AFCO Lincoln on Full Time Reserve Service (Limited Commitment) Terms and Conditions of Service (TCoS), with an initial proposed start date of being not before 09 February 2026 (or later, subject to candidate status). This post is predominantly remote working in the allocated geographic area, although the post holder will be required to visit and support the recruiting hubs (AFCOs), and Mids CE team bases at RAF Wittering and RAF Cosford as required. Job Description RAF Careers Engagement (CE) staff are directly responsible for planning, executing, and assessing CE interaction with groups or individuals who are eligible to join the RAF, or may do so in the future. The bulk of this task is carried out in Education Establishments (EEs): schools, colleges, and universities in the Midlands. As WO / FS Mids, you will be responsible to OC CE Mids for: implementation of the Area Careers Engagement Plan (CEP); management and administration of the Area’s CE effort; monitoring and recording Area CE activity; overall maintenance of standards of CE delivery; supervision and welfare of all Mids CE personnel; acting as 2 i/c of the Mids CE Flt and OC in the OC’s absence. You will support OC CE Mids in the creation of the Area CEP; this will be based on the National CEP and your area’s analysis of the recruiting environment. The post holder will maintain existing relationships in support of CE and identify and establish new relevant long-term, close-working relationships with key establishments, influencers, and gatekeepers within the engagement area. In addition, you will be required to support CE delivery, attend careers fairs, apprenticeship events, graduate recruitment fairs, and bespoke careers engagement activities as required to provide a positive message about the RAF as a career. In addition to the work with EEs, CE staff are required to build and maintain links with the RAFAC. In accordance with the National CEP, you should ensure appropriate coverage of RAFAC wings, sectors, units, and events through a coordinated visit program. You should also identify and develop working relationships with other youth organisations and education partnerships where the RAF can work with pre-eligible or eligible individuals and groups. This is particularly important in groups where the demographic is under-represented in the RAF. Job Specification : As a member of the Mids CE Team, you are responsible to Gp Capt R&S, through OC CE for contributing to the construction and implementation of the Area CEP, recording CE activity, following best practice, and achieving value for money in your activities. Core Objectives : Implementing your part of the Area CEP by: Meeting the targets set by OC CE through the Area OC, in particular, establish/build relationships with the following CE recruiting audiences: Educational Establishments (EEs). In accordance with the direction given in the National and Area CEPs, ensure extant recruiting priorities are met, ensuring accurate and timely reporting through local and national IT systems. RAFAC Units. In accordance with the National CEP, ensure appropriate coverage of RAFAC wings, sectors, units and events through a coordinated visit program. Wider Youth Engagement. Seeking out opportunities to work with other uniformed youth organisations or suitable clubs and societies that would be supportive to RAF recruiting. Core Responsibilities Acting as line manager and 1st RO for the Area’s CE Flt Personnel and direct and coordinate their activities. Ensuring that all CE personnel are trained to an appropriate standard in the tools of CE delivery. Working with AFCOs, Specialist Recruiting Teams (SRTs), Community Careers Liaison Officers (CCLOs) and HQ R&S to maximise engagement opportunities. Assisting with AFCO processing where sufficient capacity exists, as requested by AFCO staff through HQ staffs. Routine Objectives : Undertaking and contributing to RAF CE activity as directed, both in and outside working hours and at weekends, by: Delivering careers presentations or other appropriate engagement activities at selected EEs, RAFAC, youth or sector partner organisations that may involve travelling significant distances and/or entering locales requiring pre-assessment of local security conditions. Representing RAF R&S at MEL or other large scale engagement events (duties which may include carrying heavy loads, such as boxes of recruiting literature and/or bulky display items and then manning stands and other platforms for prolonged periods of time, often without regular pauses for rest and/or refreshment). Further utilising the knowledge and skills associated with your own profession in support of specific CE events and/or activities. Acting as role model for the youth population, both on and off duty, but most especially at public events, shows and exhibitions. This role will involve some evening and weekend work and applicants must be prepared to travel with some duties involving overnight stays within Limited Commitment terms of Service.
