Visitor Experience Officer - Basingstoke Summary Redeployees only This vacancy is only open to employees who are under notice of redundancy as a result of the Sustainable Future Programme. ‘Under notice of redundancy’ means you have entered your notice period. Being a Visitor Experience Officer for the National Trust is all about people – connecting with them, inspiring them, and making sure they have the best possible day when they come to visit. Salary: 26,793 per annum Contract: This is a permanent role which offers realistic salary progression based on annual reviews. Working: 37.5 hours per week, shift pattern is 5 over 7 daytime hours, with a mix of weekdays and weekends. There are no evening shifts. What it's like to work here You’ll be reporting to the Visitor Operations & Experience Manager, working in a team of three, at The Vyne. Once an important Tudor palace, this atmospheric mansion has some illustrious connections, from Henry VIII to Jane Austen. Outside, acres of wildlife-rich gardens, meadows and woods create a wonderful space for relaxation and exploration, while the natural play space gives children freedom to let their imaginations take them on fantasy adventures. Sweeping lawns offer lakeside picnicking, and a short stroll reveals a cosy bird hide overlooking the water meadows What you'll be doing As Visitor Experience Officer, your main focus will be on providing a great service for visitors. With your team, you’ll be welcoming people and inspiring them to really get to know The Vyne. This might include devising and running events and activities, and creating interpretive displays and other ways of bringing the place, and its stories, to life for everyone who comes here. You'll encourage visitors to take a closer look at artworks or precious objects cared for by the Trust. You might be supervising and supporting volunteers and organising rotas. You’re likely to be checking standards of presentation on site, or helping to write for our web pages. Who we're looking for Applications from redeployees are assessed against the minimum criteria for the role. In your application, please provide details of how you meet the minimum criteria below: Good at talking to, and getting on with, all kinds of people Used to multiple deadlines, being organised and managing your own workload Care about the detail and will take pride in getting things perfect for our visitors, inspiring others to do the same Are comfortable operating independently, owning your decisions, and taking responsibility to act A hard-working and committed team player Additional criteria for all other applicants: Can adapt to the needs of the moment, exercising empathy and good judgement when needed Experienced in producing interpretive materials, such as displays and exhibitions, and marketing or promotional materials Comfortable with IT: Microsoft Office, as well as web and social media The package The National Trust has the motto ‘For everyone, for ever’ at its heart.
