Job Overview

Exciting opportunity within our Pharmacy Goods‑In team based at Southmead Hospital and our off‑site warehouse location. The successful candidate will bring a positive attitude whilst working in a fast‑paced environment and supporting the efficient management of pharmaceutical supplies and stock.

The ideal candidate will have previous experience in a warehouse, stock management, or similar, and must be able to work under their own initiative while completing priority tasks as part of the wider team. We look forwards to hearing from you!


Key Responsibilities

* Receive, inspect and process deliveries of pharmaceutical goods in accordance with NHS policies and procedures.
* Ensure accurate documentation and recording of goods received, including checking delivery notes against purchase orders.
* Maintain inventory control and ensure proper storage and organisation of stock.
* Assist in stock rotation and monitor expiry dates to minimise wastage.
* Prepare and distribute pharmaceutical supplies to relevant departments as required.
* Participate in stock checks and audits to ensure compliance with governance and regulatory standards.
* Work collaboratively with the wider pharmacy and logistics teams.
* Rotate between the Brunel Pharmacy site and the off‑site warehouse, providing flexibility and adaptability to meet operational demands.


Training and Pay

You will commence on the Agenda for Change pay scale Band 2. All relevant pharmaceutical training will be provided under the supervision of the Pharmacy Learning and Development team. After successful completion of all in‑house training and the Buttercups training course, you will be assessed by the Pharmacy Supply Services Manager/Lead before final sign‑off and, if successful, progress to Band 3.

Education / Training / Qualifications


Essential Criteria

* GCSE English and Mathematics – Grade C/4 or above.


Desirable Criteria

* Relevant units of Buttercups Level 2 (Pharmacy Stock Management).


Work Experience


Essential Criteria

* Previous experience in a warehouse, stock management, or similar role.


Desirable Criteria

* Familiarity with inventory management systems and dealing with stock discrepancies.
* Experience in a pharmacy environment, knowledge of cold chain management and unlicensed medication.
* Proficiency in operating forklifts safely and efficiently.
* Proficiency in operating powered and/or manual pallet trucks effectively.


Knowledge / Skills / Abilities


Essential Criteria

* Excellent IT skills, including accurate data entry such as Microsoft Excel, and other computer systems.
* Good interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with a variety of people (e.g., staff, suppliers, drivers).
* Good problem‑solving skills, and awareness of when to escalating appropriately.
* Good time management and organisational skills whilst working under pressure to achieve priority tasks.


Desirable Criteria

* Knowledge of General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).
* Knowledge of Wholesale Dealer Authorisation (WDA) activities and requirements of Good Distribution Practice (UK GDP).


Personal Qualities / Special Circumstances


Essential Criteria

* Ability to perform manual handling tasks (e.g., heavy lifting, carrying, and moving stock).
* Own a vehicle and be able to travel between sites managed by NBT Trust – must possess a clean driving licence without endorsements, penalties or points that may disqualify an individual from driving legally or safely.
* Working independently and as part of a team.
* Maintaining accuracy and focus with detailed concentration throughout repetitive daily tasks.
* Willingness to be trained and instructed, and working proactively to progress training.
* Ability to work within the defined Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) with an awareness of legal frameworks, such as Medicines and Healthcare products Regulatory Agency (MHRA).
* Able to work during the normal working week 07:00 – 18:00 on rotation, including weekends and bank holidays as required for service provision.
