Senior FPGA Firmware Engineer
The Cross-Domain (XD) team delivers high-performance appliances for the Defensive Cyber market, designing security-focused products from scratch, including high-performance C++, embedded software, FPGA firmware (VHDL), and custom hardware.
Job Role
A Senior Firmware Engineer in the XD team is involved in the full product lifecycle, primarily using Altera FPGAs and VHDL. The role demands hands-on experience with VHDL and familiarity with FPGA toolchains (Intel, Xilinx, Achronix, etc.). Experience with embedded FPGA blocks and team leadership is highly valued.
You will lead small teams of junior engineers, providing mentorship and support.
Team and Environment
The team comprises around 50 members based in Gloucester, within a wider group of about 200 engineers, contributing to a larger capability of 3,500 staff at BAE Systems Digital Intelligence. We offer engaging technical challenges, a collaborative environment, and career development opportunities.
Security Clearance & Eligibility
Candidates must hold or be eligible for UK security clearance and meet nationality requirements. Remote work is not regular but flexible working arrangements are available.
