Workshop Technician / MOT Tester - Stockton-on-Tees
Stockton-on-Tees Borough Council is offering a fantastic opportunity for a Workshop Technician / MOT Tester to join the Transport Services team.
Key Responsibilities:
* Undertake MOT inspections in accordance with DVSA guidelines.
* Conduct Hackney Carriage/private hire testing to the required standards.
* Assist in providing repair and maintenance services for vehicles, plant, and equipment for internal and external customers.
* Carry out routine maintenance and repairs on a varied fleet of vehicles, including Plant vehicles and specialist equipment.
* Perform inspections, repairs, and maintenance on all Council vehicles and equipment to Ministry of Transport standards.
Qualifications and Experience:
* Minimum of four years’ full-time employment as a mechanic/technician working on diesel engines, petrol engines, transmissions, and electrical systems.
* DVSA nominated tester (Classes IV and VII) certificate.
* NVQ Level 2 in motor vehicle studies or equivalent qualification, or previous MOT tester experience.
* Ideally hold a Large Goods Vehicle Class ‘C’ licence and MOT nominated tester classes 4 & 7, but training will be provided if not.

* Good communication and interpersonal skills.
* Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 08:00 to 16:00.
