Job Overview
We are seeking an enthusiastic, forward-thinking Pharmacy Technician to join our existing team within the Pharmacy Production Unit. Applicants must be registered with the General Pharmaceutical Council as a Pharmacy Technician, have experience in a Production Unit, hold the Accredited Checking Technician qualification, and possess a BTEC Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences and a Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills (or equivalent). Knowledge of Good Manufacturing Practice principles is required.
Responsibilities
* Aseptic manipulation and preparation of a range of products to meet service demands, including chemotherapy, parenteral nutrition, CIVAS, extemporaneous doses and radiopharmaceuticals.
* Supervision and coordination of junior support staff and technicians.
* Completing sessions of pre-process checking, where attention to detail and accuracy are paramount.
* Deputising for the Senior Pharmacy Technician, when required.
Qualifications
Essential criteria
* Registered Pharmacy Technician with the General Pharmaceutical Council.
* BTEC in Pharmaceutical Sciences or equivalent.
* Level 3 NVQ Diploma in Pharmacy Service Skills (QCF) or equivalent.
* Completed Accredited Checking Pharmacy Technician qualification.
* Post-qualification training in aseptic processing of radioisotopes, cytotoxic chemotherapy, CIVAS and parenteral nutrition.
* Knowledge and application of GMP and QA in aseptic processing.
* Knowledge of COSSH regulations.
Desirable criteria
* Membership of a relevant professional association.
* Completion of the Leeds University Aseptic Preparation & Dispensing of Medicines short course (APDM).
* Knowledge of Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2000 (IRMER).
