The Role
Purpose of Role
As our Senior Commercial Optimisation Manager, you\'ll play a pivotal role in delivering one of the key pillars of our transformation strategy: reducing the cost of doing business. As we evolve our operating model, this role will be central to unlocking incremental commercial value through smarter supplier terms, strategic negotiation, and a refreshed approach to supplier partnerships.
This isn\'t a role for someone looking to maintain the status quo. It\'s a chance to build something from the ground up - redefining how we partner with suppliers, embedding new ways of working, and driving a commercial culture that\'s insight-led, collaborative, and focused on long-term strategic advantage. As the model proves successful, there\'s a clear ambition to scale it internationally.
What You\'ll Be Doing
* Lead Supplier Value Chain Negotiations - apply value chain analysis to uncover opportunities across the supplier lifecycle, translating insight into negotiation strategies that deliver measurable, sustainable commercial value.
* Coach Commercial Teams - embed negotiation capability, data storytelling, and value chain thinking; act as a strategic coach to improve supplier conversations and decision-making.
* Refresh Commercial Terms - participate in refreshing supplier terms for the first time in five years; help define what it means to be a supplier to Holland & Barrett and shape commercial frameworks.
* Drive Strategic Alignment - influence senior stakeholders across Buying, Finance, Supply Chain, and Digital to align around shared value opportunities and execute commercial strategies tied to the three-year plan.
* Build Capability & Culture - help embed a culture of confident negotiation, strategic thinking, and continuous improvement to become a more agile, data-driven organisation.
This role is based in Nuneaton, and may occasionally require travel to other Holland & Barrett locations. We support hybrid working with a minimum of 2 days in the office.
The Person
What skill you\'ll need to succeed
* Strong background in category management, buying, or procurement (essential)
* Proven experience in supplier negotiations and understanding of commercial trading terms
* Confident working with data and financials, including P&L (desirable)
* Skilled in influencing stakeholders, using storytelling and data to drive decisions
* Comfortable managing multiple priorities and working cross-functionally
* Experience in shaping value chains and delivering commercial outcomes
You\'ll bring solid experience in buying, category management, or procurement, with a strong grasp of supplier negotiations and commercial trading terms. You\'ll be confident working with data and financials, influencing decisions through storytelling and insight, and managing multiple priorities across senior stakeholders.
