Overview
The Estates department at Royal Lancaster Infirmary is a group of highly skilled electrical and mechanical engineers, creative building craft persons, and dedicated support staff. We are looking to recruit a motivated and enthusiastic person to join us.
Responsibilities
* Carry out mechanical maintenance work within acute and community NHS properties, including heating and pressure systems, ventilation, air conditioning, steam production, medical gases, and other healthcare related mechanical services.
* Work as part of a team and also independently, self-motivated and able to work with limited supervision.
* Flexible working to assist other trades and undertake other tasks to maintain the building services.
Qualifications and Experience
* Experience, time served and suitably qualified in mechanical fitting or vehicle mechanical maintenance and fault finding.
* A mechanical fitting/manufacturing/plumbing background, particularly within healthcare, would be advantageous but not essential as specific training will be provided.
* Experience in vehicle mechanics/technicians can transfer well to this role due to similar principles.
Location and Context
This post is based at Royal Lancaster Infirmary, Lancaster. We operate from three main hospitals – Furness General Hospital (FGH) in Barrow, the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI), and Westmorland General Hospital (WGH) in Kendal – as well as a number of community healthcare premises including Millom Hospital and GP Practice, and Queen Victoria Hospital in Morecambe.
All three main hospitals provide a range of planned care including outpatients, diagnostics, therapies, day case and inpatient surgery, along with local outreach services and diagnostics from community facilities across Morecambe Bay.
