Overview
Peripatetic Music Curriculum/Vocal Teacher (Maternity Cover) – Neath Port Talbot County Borough Council.
Responsibilities
* Visit a set of primary schools weekly to deliver music curriculum lessons.
* Teach music curriculum to assigned classes and, where appropriate, whole class/school singing.
* Prepare music lessons aligned with the New Curriculum for Wales and link to class concepts/themes as discussed with school teachers.
* Use templates provided by the Music Service to record planning and track progress.
Qualifications and Skills
* Experience of high-quality full-class teaching of music curriculum/vocal at primary school level.
* Confidence in singing and a commitment to teaching music.
* Ability to plan music lessons in line with the new Curriculum for Wales to motivate and engage pupils.
* Ability to liaise professionally with school-based staff.
* Good IT skills (Word and Excel).
Desirable Qualifications
* Music Degree (BA or BMus).
* Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
* Full driving licence and access to transport.
Contract and Working Arrangements
Contract: from September 2025 for up to two terms, or until the colleague returns (if earlier). Hours: 24.5 hours. The role requires working from a fixed workplace and travel between schools.
