Lecturer: Fashion, Textiles and Art

4 days per week
28.8 hours (52 weeks per year)
£32,455 to £45,260 Teacher training provided
We are seeking a part time Lecturer in Fashion/Textiles and Art and Design, to join our successful team and deliver across a range of programmes from Level 1 to Level 3. You will also assist in developing industry links for live briefs and student work experience.
You will need to possess a minimum of HND (degree preferable) in a relevant subject area, with excellent subject knowledge, and teaching experience of Fashion and Textiles to Level 3 including UAL programmes, and experience of teaching Art and Design up to Level 2. If you do not currently possess a Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the Further Education sector, you will be supported to obtain this by the College.
MAIN PURPOSE OF POST:
The main purpose of the job is to ensure the retention and achievement of students through the delivery of good practice in teaching and learning. To teach, develop and improve programmes of study in Fashion ,Textiles and Art and Design
Design and Delivery of Programmes
* Teach on a range of fashion and art related disciplines (particularly design, research/design sourcing and fabric manipulation/textiles) on the following programmes:
L2 Dip in Fashion Business and Retail
Level 2 Art and Design
L3 A&D - Fashion & Textiles
* Assist in the co-ordination of the above programmes.
* Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans and resource materials for teaching programmes.
* Utilise IT and learning technology to deliver elements of the curriculum.
* Deliver and assess Functional Skills.
* Integrate Functional Skills into the curriculum.
* Prepare assessment plans and schedules and ensure students are aware of your expectations.
* Implement the School’s policies on assessment and homework.
* Participate in the evaluation of the effectiveness of the programme.
Qualifications:
* Minimum of HND in the relevant subject area
* GCSE English and Maths at Grade C/4 or equivalent, or willing to achieve
* Level 5 teaching qualification recognised by the FE sector (e.g. PGCE, DET)** or willingness and ability to work towards a Level 5 teaching qualification
Knowledge and Experience:
* Teaching experience in Fashion and Textiles up to Level 3, including delivery of UAL programmes
* Teaching experience of Art and Design up to Level 2
* Experience of design, research/design sourcing and fabric manipulation/textiles
* Current/recent profile as a practitioner in the subject area
* Up to date knowledge of the relevant subject area
* The ability to enthuse and inspire students
* Good communication skills, written and verbal
* Good interpersonal skills
* Good classroom practice
* Good literacy and numeracy skills
* IT skills
* Experience of implementing IT/e-learning within the curriculum
