DESIGN COORDINATOR - Permanent Opportunity
Division: Civil Engineering Location: Larne/Belfast - Northern Ireland

We are seeking an experienced Design Coordinator, to work alongside our Design Managers, coordinating and resolving any design and technical issues. You may lead and manage multiple projects at any one time, overseeing and contributing to the design process to ensure every aspect of the project runs smoothly with no clashes.

The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience in a similar position with a main contractor.
A full driving licence is essential. Typical duties will include:
1. Managing permanent and temporary works designs for live projects and tenders
2. Managing the design process, with a focus on buildability and efficiency, to ensure the optimum solution is arrived at
3. Development of Design Deliverables schedule in co-ordination with the designers
4. Liaising with tender and project teams to ensure design is developed in line with expectations
5. Ensuring a design programme is prepared and agreed with each designer
6. Incorporating the design programme into the main programme
7. Meeting with designers on a regular basis to ensure the design is developing as planned
8. Monitoring progress of the design and works and updating the programme as necessary
9. Ensuring the design is managed in accordance with the relevant quality procedures
10. Ensuring Principal Designer duties are fulfilled for pre-construction operations under the CDM Regulations
11. Providing design input as required for tender submissions
12. Liaising with clients, designers, subcontractors, suppliers and third parties as appropriate
13. Providing technical input and advice as required for live projects and tenders
14. Providing input into programmes where required, including tender, design, construction and Variation / Compensation Event programmes
15. Coordinating the design of temporary works and where appropriate design elements of temporary works
16. Undertaking a review of design drawings (for both D&B and Construction) and raising technical queries accordingly
17. Providing construction methodology input and incorporating in the programme where required
18. Managing the flow of information from the design team and advising the project team of any impact on progress and programme
19. Providing necessary information to the Procurement Department to enable the procurement of materials and subcontractors
20. Preparing handover documents
21. Introducing improvements and innovations where appropriate
