What you'll do
As part of a small team, you will carry out essential inspection, testing, calibration, and verification on a range of mechanical and electrical assets to ensure compliance with all relevant statutory legislation, including:
* Health and Safety at Work Act 1974
* Electricity at Work Regulations 1989
* Pressure Systems Safety Regulations 2000 (PSSR)
* The Lifting Operations and Lifting Equipment Regulations 1998 (LOLER)
* Provision and Use of Work Equipment Regulations 1998 (PUWER)
* Control Of Substances Hazardous to Health (COSHH)
* Dangerous Substances and Explosive Atmospheres Regulations 2002 (DSEAR)
You will also manage statutory inspection schedules, liaise with specialist contractors, assess and prioritize remedial works, undertake on-the-spot repairs, and provide expert technical advice to other business units. Travel across our region, covering Chippenham, Bristol, Salisbury, Bournemouth, Bridgwater, and surrounding areas, will be required.
What you'll need
You should be a self-motivated electrical or mechanical technician capable of working independently. Ideally, you will have a City and Guilds in Electrical Inspection and Testing (2391) and hold a valid CompEx qualification (units 1 to 4, 9, and 10 or 11). Confined space training and experience with breathing apparatus, gas detection, and lifting equipment are also desirable. Experience with IT tools like NAPIT FastTest for managing inspection schedules, recording test results, and reporting asset conditions is advantageous.
