PROPOSED SALARY RANGE: £27,600 - £33,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. The expected salary range for this role reflects internal benchmarking and external market insights.

Job Purpose
This is an exciting and important role where you will be making a significant contribution to BBC Radio 5 Live’s long-running business and economics programme Wake Up To Money and to the business news on Radio 4’s flagship news programme, Today.

Key Responsibilities And Impact
* Following the domestic and international business news agenda and pitching stories in meetings.
* Identifying potential contributors and booking guests to appear on programmes.
* Writing presenter cues and briefs to the highest standards of accuracy, demonstrating in-depth research.
* Developing and maintaining relationships with figures from the business world.
* This is a crucial role which requires fast, diligent work under pressure. It’s an exciting job, working on two prestigious programmes, in a friendly, supportive, high-performing team.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
* A proven ability to cut through jargon and tell complex stories in a way that is clear, engaging, and accessible to a broad audience.
* Strong knowledge of business and economics, both in the UK and internationally, with a keen eye for the stories that matter.
* A team player who is always willing to help colleagues out.
* The confidence to pitch creative, distinctive treatments in editorial meetings and contribute fresh ideas.
* Sharp editorial judgement: a strong instinct for what’s needed from an interview, a nose for a news-line, and the ability to craft incisive, revealing questions.
* A rigorous commitment to accuracy – always going back to the original sources, research, and data to ensure our journalism is of the highest standard.
