Health & Safety Officer Location: Mid Ulster Reports To: Site Manager Salary: £32,000 - £38,000 Negotiable, depending on experience Job Type: Full-time We are seeking a dedicated Health & Safety Officer to join our team. This role is essential for ensuring compliance with all relevant health and safety legislation, company policies, and industry standards. The successful candidate will play a crucial role in promoting a positive safety culture and safeguarding the health, safety, and wellbeing of all employees within our fast-paced manufacturing environment. Day-to-day of the role: Policy Implementation: Support the development, implementation, and monitoring of Health & Safety policies and procedures. Compliance: Ensure adherence to UK and NI Health & Safety legislation and food industry standards. Risk Management: Conduct risk assessments, develop safe systems of work, and implement corrective actions. Audits & Inspections: Perform regular site inspections and internal audits; assist with external audits. Incident Management: Investigate accidents, near misses, and incidents; prepare reports and recommend preventive measures. Training: Deliver toolbox talks and coordinate internal/external Health & Safety training programs. Documentation: Maintain accurate records of inspections, training, and compliance reports. Continuous Improvement: Identify opportunities to improve safety performance and contribute to sustainability initiatives. Emergency Preparedness: Assist in developing and maintaining site emergency plans. Required Skills & Qualifications: NEBOSH General Certificate (mandatory) Minimum 2-3 years' experience in a Health & Safety role, preferably within manufacturing. Strong knowledge of UK Health & Safety legislation. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. Proficient in MS Office and report writing. Full UK driving licence. Desirable: Degree in Health & Safety or related discipline. Experience with HACCP and food safety standards. IOSH membership or NEBOSH Diploma. Core Competencies: Attention to detail and problem-solving skills. Ability to influence and promote a positive safety culture. Organised and proactive approach to workload.
