Job Summary

We are seeking a talented and passionate Pastry Chef to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food production and preparation, with a keen interest in baking and creating exquisite pastries, breads, tray bakes, cakes and desserts. This role requires a commitment to food safety and quality, ensuring that all products meet our high standards. If you have a flair for creativity, we would love to hear from you.

Duties

Menu planning and recipe development

Adjusting recipes for portion size, dietary needs and cost efficiency

Measuring mixing baking and finishing pastries, cakes, tarts, breads and other desserts

* Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, desserts, and baked goods according to established recipes and standards.
* Assist in the development of new pastry recipes and menu items, incorporating seasonal ingredients where possible.
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the pastry station, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
* Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely production and presentation of all pastry items.
* Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, placing orders as necessary to maintain stock levels.
* Conduct regular quality checks on all baked goods to ensure consistency in taste and appearance.
* Provide training and guidance to junior kitchen staff as needed.

Qualifications

* Proven experience in food production and preparation, particularly within a pastry or baking role.
* Strong culinary skills with an emphasis on baking techniques and presentation.
* Previous restaurant experience is highly desirable, showcasing an ability to work effectively under pressure.
* Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in the kitchen environment.
* Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in both preparation and presentation of food items.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also demonstrating independence when required.
