Duties
Menu planning and recipe development
Adjusting recipes for portion size, dietary needs and cost efficiency
Measuring mixing baking and finishing pastries, cakes, tarts, breads and other desserts
* Prepare and bake a variety of pastries, desserts, and baked goods according to established recipes and standards.
* Assist in the development of new pastry recipes and menu items, incorporating seasonal ingredients where possible.
* Maintain cleanliness and organisation of the pastry station, ensuring compliance with food safety regulations.
* Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure timely production and presentation of all pastry items.
* Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, placing orders as necessary to maintain stock levels.
* Conduct regular quality checks on all baked goods to ensure consistency in taste and appearance.
* Provide training and guidance to junior kitchen staff as needed.
Qualifications
* Proven experience in food production and preparation, particularly within a pastry or baking role.
* Strong culinary skills with an emphasis on baking techniques and presentation.
* Previous restaurant experience is highly desirable, showcasing an ability to work effectively under pressure.
* Knowledge of food safety standards and best practices in the kitchen environment.
* Excellent organisational skills with attention to detail in both preparation and presentation of food items.
* Ability to work collaboratively within a team while also demonstrating independence when required.
