About the Role

Birmingham City Council are seeking a Housing Communications & Engagement Assistant to support the delivery of effective communication and engagement across the City Housing Directorate. This is a key role focused on ensuring residents are informed, engaged and able to contribute to housing services and policy development. You will support the development of meaningful communications and help deliver engagement activities that meet the needs of diverse communities.

This is an exciting opportunity to join our team in a role that sits at the heart of everything we do, providing hands‑on, high‑quality and proactive support across communications, events and written material to our residents. You’ll spend your time making things happen. The to‑do lists you’ll write and the skillsets you engage will vary greatly. Whether it’s coordinating one of our events, scheduling social media content, keeping our systems up‑to‑date or planning a brilliant event for residents, you’ll be the kind of person who spots what needs doing and gets on with it.

We’re looking for someone with a genuine can‑do attitude, a team player who thrives on variety, keeps calm under pressure, and relishes completing tasks to a high standard while meeting deadlines. You’ll muck in wherever you’re needed, bringing organisational nous and a spring in your step even on the busiest of days.

This is a hybrid role, and on‑site attendance is subject to service need.

* Work with corporate communications teams to develop content aligned to wider objectives
* Build effective relationships with residents, operational teams and stakeholders
* Support consultation activity, including working with ward councillors and responding to enquiries
* Identify and share positive stories and case studies across services
* Ensure information for residents is clear, accessible and easy to understand
