Job overview

The post holder will work cross site and be a highly visible, clinically based and women focused midwife who will ensure the safety development and delivery of successful clinical care and ensure the transformation of the maternity services.

The post holder will ensure that appropriate systems, processes, structures and roles are developed to ensure continuous development of the organisation and delivery of objectives.

The Patient Safety Midwife will engage effectively with clinical leaders and others to ensure that the Maternity workforce work in an environment that enables them to provide safe, high quality, acceptable care for patients/services users, within available resources.

The post holder will play a key role in development and transformation to support the delivery of the highest possible quality of services to service users.

The post holder will become a champion for Patient safety and ensure practices on the Clinical areas represent adherence to policies and best practice.

To demonstrate improvements to patient/client care, productivity and efficiency, through a significant contribution to the achievement of the Group and Trust workforce targets.

Responsible for working locally within services where inter-professional learning opportunities can be promoted and provide expert knowledge to both trained and untrained staff by acting as a positive role model and setting high standards within area of practice.

Main duties of the job

The Safety agenda within Maternity Services is of paramount importance. The post holder would work extensively and collaboratively with both the governance team and the operational team within Family Services. The post holder would ensure quality and safety throughout the maternity service by audit and compliance and would feed back the findings and develop strategies for improvement.
