Role Purpose:
This is a new product testing role within the company. It involves managing and executing the full lifecycle of test engineering, from defining test cases to developing test tools, executing tests, and managing facilities. The ideal candidate will have broad engineering knowledge, imagination, and drive.
Key accountabilities and responsibilities:
* Analyze conformance specifications to derive test requirements.
* Plan, design, and communicate test cases validating requirements across electro-mechanical systems for development and production phases.
* Design test jigs, harnesses, and software for executing test cases, including automation where appropriate.
* Implement data processing/filtering software to extract relevant results.
* Manage internal test facilities such as test tanks, ovens, pools, and lifting equipment.
* Liaise with external test facilities (EMC, vibration, pools, etc.).
* Execute tests safely, clearly, and in a controlled manner.
* Perform fault finding and failure analysis.
* Document and present results and findings.
Essential Skills:
* HNC or Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.
* Minimum 3 years in a test-focused role or in test equipment development.
* Proven experience in data capture and analysis.
* Experience working with multi-disciplinary systems (electrical, mechanical, software).
* Experience in an engineering NPI environment.
* Strong knowledge of test equipment and platforms.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
* Exposure to NPI design phases, working to design/system requirements.
* Ability to generate test cases from requirements to verify/validate designs.
* Experience with National Instruments test software platforms, creating test functions within the NI environment.
* Experience controlling NI hardware and proprietary test equipment, including data management.
* Hands-on experience with electronic circuit construction, testing, and diagnostics.
* Innovative and creative mindset with sound engineering principles.
* Ability to work independently under tight deadlines.
* Knowledge of product certification, industry standards, and best practices.
* Enthusiasm, drive, and personality.
* Ability to create high-quality test reports.
* Experience in data logging and capture.
Desirable:
* Experience in offshore and/or subsea industries.
* Experience working in a Production Test facility.
* Knowledge of creating test executables in NI LabView/TestStand.
* Proficiency in programming/scripts (Python, C, C#, C++, VB, etc.).
* Experience in specification, build, commissioning, and support of test equipment.
* Understanding mechanical principles and applications.
* Knowledge of compliance standards and certifications (CE/DNV).
* Previous customer-facing experience.
