Position Overview
Lambeth Palace Library seeks a Project Coordinator: Archives to join their team within the National Church Institutions. The role involves processing, interpreting, and promoting the Library's collections to support its mission, with a focus on cataloguing records related to the church's historic links with transatlantic chattel enslavement, and engaging in outreach activities.
About the Department
The Church Commissioners manage the Church of England's historic assets and support research into their links to transatlantic chattel enslavement. Lambeth Palace Library, founded in 1610, is the historic library of the Archbishop of Canterbury, housing collections from the 9th century to today, serving as a key resource for ecclesiastical history and beyond.
Key Responsibilities
1. Participate in outreach activities to promote research into the church's historical links to transatlantic chattel enslavement, including community engagement programs.
2. Review and catalogue archives using specialist software (e.g., CALM Archives), and update research guides as needed.
3. Assist readers and researchers, supervise the Reading Room, and advise on research methods.
4. Enhance collections knowledge through professional development.
5. Ensure the security and proper handling of collections.
6. Contribute to wider projects and team activities within the Engagement Team.
Candidate Profile
