Overview

Band 5 Occupational Therapist - Eden Acute, based on Eden Ward within Birmingham and Solihull Mental Health NHS Foundation Trust.

Main duties

The successful candidate will be able to communicate well and use their professional skills and knowledge to work effectively across the service, as well as displaying ability to work on their own initiative and be a committed team player.

You will be joining a hard-working multi-disciplinary team dedicated to achieving the best outcomes for service users and carers. You will be involved in a variety of professional roles to include supporting the day-to-day decision making on the ward, designated supervision responsibilities, leadership of various individual projects, quality initiatives and service developments that support the trust strategy. This will equip you to embrace our philosophy of care; that the service user is at the heart of everything that we do. You will be expected to be flexible in your approach and welcome the opportunity to build on your existing experience and skills.

This position would be ideal for an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist with a vision to develop their career and clinical expertise within an acute mental health environment. The post would require the successful applicant to have experience within a mental health setting and have an awareness of risk management. You will be expected to utilise specialist functional assessments and interventions utilising the Model of Human Occupation (MOHO) which is primarily used within the trust.


Responsibilities

* Communicate well and use professional skills across the service
* Work on own initiative and as part of a multidisciplinary team
* Provide leadership on projects, quality initiatives and service developments
* Support decision making on the ward and contribute to risk management
* Collaborate with ward team and OT assistants, activity workers and other professionals for effective recovery and discharge
