The Role

Shape the future through design, creativity and food.

We are seeking an inspiring and passionate Teacher of Design Technology with a Food Technology specialism to join our forward-thinking school.

This is an exciting opportunity for a creative practitioner who believes that great learning happens when students design, make, test and taste. In our well-resourced Design Technology Department, Food Technology is a vibrant and valued subject that equips young people with essential life skills, scientific understanding and a genuine love of food and nutrition.

As a Teacher of Design Technology (Food), you will:

* Deliver engaging and inclusive lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, with the opportunity to teach GCSE Food Preparation and Nutrition

* Inspire students to think critically about healthy eating, sustainability, culture and food provenance

* Foster creativity, independence and confidence in practical learning environments

* Contribute to a collaborative department that values innovation, high standards and professional growth

The Candidate

We are looking for a teacher who:

* Is passionate about Food Technology and its impact on students’ lives

* Has strong subject knowledge and a commitment to excellent teaching and learning

* demonstrate the ability to consistently deliver inspirational learning experiences for students

* have an understanding of how to promote effective and inclusive teaching and learning

* be able to evidence success in raising student achievement across a broad range of abilities through successful assessment, monitoring and evaluation of student progress, and the range of strategies that could be used to address underachievement

* possess good communication skills with students, colleagues and parents

* demonstrate a strong desire to undertake Continuing Professional Development to inform teaching

Whether you are an experienced teacher or an ECT looking to develop your craft in a supportive environment, we would love to hear from you.

Join us and help shape confident, creative and capable young people—one design, one dish, one lesson at a time.

The Department

The Technology Department includes Resistant Materials, Graphics, Textiles and Food Technology. Technology is a popular subject both at Key Stage 3 and GCSE, with demand exceeding capacity. The department is well resourced with two workshops (one housing a laser cutter and a 3D printer), one textiles room, and a designated Food room. A full time technician ably assists in the preparation for Food Technology lessons and supports students with SEND.

The department is also supported by a Lead Practitioner within the Trust, ensuring high standards of teaching and learning are maintained.

Our School

Bohunt Farnborough continues to go from strength to strength. In 2025, our GCSE results improved once again, continuing a trend of record-breaking outcomes year after year. In 2024, we were proud to be recognised as one of the top 5% most improved schools in the country—a testament to the dedication of our staff, the resilience of our students, and the unwavering support of our families. This momentum was further acknowledged during an Ofsted pilot visit in July, where inspectors praised the rapid progress of the school under their new framework.

As part of the Bohunt Education Trust, our vision is clear: the highest expectations, an ethos of ‘enjoy, respect, achieve’, unparalleled opportunity, and highly effective teaching combine to develop students who are true game-changers. We are committed to nurturing young people who are not only academically successful but also confident, compassionate, and ready to shape the world around them.

At Bohunt Farnborough, we understand that every student is unique. That’s why we offer bespoke guidance to help each individual discover future pathways—even those they may not yet have imagined. Our curriculum is designed to inspire, challenge, and enrich, while our culture of kindness and hard work ensures that every student feels safe, supported, and empowered to thrive.

We Offer

* A culture of bespoke professional development from our own leadership academy

* Robust focus on staff wellbeing

* The opportunity to make a difference

* Dedicated co-planning time during the school day to support your workload

* Happy and enthusiastic students who want to learn

* The benefit of being part of a multi-academy trust offering collaboration, support of experienced colleagues across our schools and greater opportunities for career progression
