The Role

As a Senior Account Executive, you will report directly to your Account Manager while developing your

strategic and creative understanding of media relations and PR campaigns. You will take a proactive

approach to tasks and account needs, acting as the Account Manager’s right hand in media relations by proposing relevant angles and target media. Alongside managing day-to-day activity across multi-

channel accounts, you will contribute creative PR ideas and begin nurturing junior team members, including Account Executives and Press Assistants. You will also remain curious about consumer brand

campaigns and broader industry trends, attending events, staying engaged with the media landscape,

and continuously deepening your knowledge.


Key Responsibilities:


TEAM GROWTH & DEVELOPMENT

Team Management

• Begin developing a personal management style with junior team members.

• Support, nurture, and guide Account Assistants and Account Executives.

• Work closely with your Account Manager/Line Manager to refine your leadership approach.

Proactivity

• Anticipate actions before being asked.

• Proactively identify opportunities such as news hijacking, partnerships, and creative ideas.

• Clearly explain why new opportunities are relevant to the client.

Problem Solving & Critical Thinking

• Start actively troubleshooting by proposing solutions to challenges.

• Assess what is required for each task and articulate your approach when delivering work.

Managing Upwards

• Keep Account Managers and senior team members regularly updated.

• Flag any issues early and accurately.

Training

• Attend internal and external training sessions.

• Apply acquired skills and knowledge to your day-to-day work.


CLIENT RELATIONS

Account Management

• Assist with day-to-day account management, including contact reports, agendas, and wrap

reports.

• Ensure all client communication is timely, consistent, and accurate.

• Review junior team outputs and provide constructive feedback before passing to the

Account Manager.

Client’s Business

• Stay informed about your client’s industry and competitors.

• Share relevant articles or insights with clients (with Account Director approval).

Client Communication

• Participate actively in client calls and present agreed updates.

• Communicate clearly and concisely, flagging any concerns to your Account Manager.

Planning

• Contribute confidently to brainstorms with fresh, creative ideas.

• Support research tasks and idea write-ups.

Drafting Materials

• Produce high-quality, error-free written materials.

• Maintain accuracy in all client and media-facing documents.

Results

• Understand client KPIs and maintain accurate coverage trackers.

• Support juniors in preparing coverage sell-backs for Account Manager approval.


COMMERCIAL UNDERSTANDING

Budget & Scope

• Be aware of client budgets, fees, and scopes of work.

• Flag any requests that fall outside agreed scopes.

Cost Tracking

• Support the Account Manager in tracking third-party costs.

Timesheets

• Ensure timesheets are updated regularly and completed accurately.


MEDIA & WIDER INDUSTRY KNOWLEDGE

Media & Influencer Knowledge

• Stay informed by reading a broad range of media.

• Build relationships with journalists, influencers, and KOLs relevant to clients.

• Understand influencer landscapes and suitable engagement tactics.

Media Lists & Sell-ins

• Support the Account Manager in shaping media strategies, angles, and targets.

• Build strong media lists and guide junior team members.

• Lead sell-ins with tenacity, leveraging relationships to secure high-quality coverage.

Social Media Understanding

• Maintain a strong grasp of major social platforms and their audiences.

• Contribute social-first ideas during brainstorms and planning sessions.

Wider Industry Awareness

• Stay curious about new campaigns, trends, platform updates, openings, and regulations.

• Subscribe to relevant newsletters and alerts to stay informed.


AGENCY GROWTH & NEW BUSINESS

Organic Growth

• Listen for opportunities within existing accounts, such as new projects or services the agency

could support.

• Flag potential growth opportunities to the Account Director.

New Business

• Support new business pitches through research, ideation, and producing slides on

* amplification or creative concepts.
