About The Role
Falmouth Exeter Plus manages and delivers services at Falmouth, Penryn and Truro Campuses on behalf of Falmouth University and the University of Exeter. Working closely with the Falmouth & Exeter Students' Union (The SU) and the wider, universities partnership we support Higher Education learning and living, ensuring that the interests of all campus users are at the heart of everything we do.

We are looking for an experienced Carpenter/Joiner with general building experience to join our Estates team on a full-time, permanent basis. Working closely with the Maintenance Supervisor and Estates helpdesk Team you will be required to deliver a first class carpentry installation and maintenance service across a variety of properties on campus. It’s a varied role and represents a great opportunity to join a close knit team. This position will primarily be based from our Penryn Campus, however, there may be a requirement for you to work at our Falmouth Campus on occasion.
About You
We are looking for an enthusiastic candidate who will be City and Guilds qualified or hold an NVQ equivalent in Carpentry/Joinery, along with substantial post qualification experience in a similar role. The ideal candidate will be able to work on their own initiative, be able to assess and solve problems on site but be able to operate effectively as part of a great team. We would like to hear from you if you have the following skills/experience:
1. Recent and relevant demonstrable experience in estates maintenance
2. Significant experience in self-managing a range of carpentry maintenance tasks, including identifying and ordering parts / materials
3. Excellent written and oral communication, relationship building and networking skills.
4. A full valid UK licence
The working hours for this role will mainly be Monday to Friday each week, however, flexibility is key for this role as some weekend work may be required. You must be willing to participate in the Out of Hours Call out rota. For full details of the skills/experience required, please see the job description above. This position is offered on a permanent, full-time, 37.5 hours per week contract working 8.30am to 17.00pm, Monday to Friday.
