 
        
        Senior Electrical Engineer Water & Utilities North West England (Hybrid)
Are you a Senior Electrical Engineer with experience in the water or utilities sector? This is an exciting opportunity to take a technical leadership role within a forward-thinking engineering organisation delivering essential infrastructure projects across the UK.
The Role
As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you ll be responsible for leading and delivering high-quality electrical and instrumentation (E&I) design across complex infrastructure projects. Working alongside a multidisciplinary team of engineers, you ll help shape the design, development, and delivery of next‑generation water and energy systems.
You ll oversee the preparation of detailed electrical designs, ensuring compliance with BS7671 (IET Wiring Regulations) and relevant industry standards. You ll act as a technical authority, providing guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and supporting the smooth delivery of projects from concept to completion.
Key Responsibilities
 * Lead the design and development of electrical systems for water and utilities infrastructure projects.
 * Produce and review detailed design deliverables including 2D/3D layouts, containment routing, loop diagrams, and cable calculations.
 * Ensure designs comply with BS7671, client specifications, and internal quality standards.
 * Conduct site surveys, provide construction support, and liaise with installation teams.
 * Collaborate with mechanical, process, civil, and control engineers to deliver fully integrated solutions.
 * Manage subcontractor and supplier design inputs, ensuring consistency and technical accuracy.
 * Promote innovation and continuous improvement in design methods, safety, and sustainability.
About You
 * HNC, HND, or Degree in Electrical or related Engineering discipline.
 * Proven experience as a Senior Electrical Engineer, E&I Design Engineer, or Electrical Project Engineer within the water, wastewater, or utilities industry.
 * In‑depth knowledge of IEE Wiring Regulations (BSth Edition).
 * Strong understanding of CDM Regulations 2015 and experience acting as a Designer.
 * Experience in hazardous area design, intrinsically safe systems, and inspection schedules.
 * Proficiency in AutoCAD LT, Trimble (Amtech), Relux/Dialux, and Microsoft Office. Knowledge of Revit, Aveva, or Navisworks is advantageous.
 * Excellent communication, problem‑solving, and leadership skills.
