Service Care Solutions are recruiting on behalf of a Local Authority for an experienced
Senior Management Accountant
on a temporary basis. This is a hybrid role, predominantly home-based with occasional on-site attendance for key meetings. This is an excellent opportunity for a proactive finance professional who can provide high-quality financial support, drive robust budget management, and contribute to continuous improvement across a complex organisation.
Key Responsibilities
* Financial Business Partnering
– Provide proactive financial support to senior managers and budget holders, ensuring effective budget management and informed decision-making.
* Budget Monitoring & Reporting
– Deliver accurate monthly management accounts, forecasting, year-end processes, and corporate financial reporting.
* Financial Governance & Controls
– Promote strong financial management practices, ensure compliance with financial regulations, and maintain effective internal controls.
* Process Improvement & Corporate Support
– Contribute to budget setting, statutory accounts preparation, financial modelling, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Person Specification
* Qualified Accountant
– CCAB qualified, part-qualified, or qualified by experience, with strong technical management accounting expertise.
* Public Sector / Complex Organisation Experience
– Proven background in financial planning, budget monitoring, forecasting, and identifying efficiencies.
* Strong Analytical & Systems Skills
– Advanced Excel skills with experience in financial modelling and interpreting complex financial data.
* Excellent Stakeholder Engagement
– Confident communicator with experience supporting and challenging non-finance managers and delivering training where required.
