Job summary
Oak Street Medical Practice has an exciting opportunity for a hardworking, enthusiastic and innovative pharmacy technician to join out team on a full time basis.
The post-holder will support the practice based clinical pharmacy team, to ensure the delivery of safe, effective, and efficient systems for repeat prescribing, medicines optimisation, reducing medicines waste & maximising patient outcomes.
Main duties of the job
1. To undertake medicines reconciliation in accordance with practice protocols & to update patients medical records/prescribing accordingly.
2. To support the achievement of the practices prescribing Quality & Outcomes Framework targets.
3. To undertake patient-facing consultations, in the context of medication reviews & other clinical services relating to medicines management.
4. Working with the senior pharmacy technician to contribute to the review & development of repeat prescribing protocols/standard operating procedures, to improve the efficiency & effectiveness of repeat prescribing systems.
5. To provide advice to GPs, staff & patients, in changes to prescribing, to support the improvement of prescribing safety, quality & cost effectiveness.
6. To participate in medication audits.
7. To support the practice-based clinical pharmacist to provide medication reviews, patient information leaflets, medicine awareness, & to undertake community visits as appropriate.

Qualifications
Essential
8. Have sound GCSE results in Maths, English and Science.
9. Have a BTEC / NVQ Level 3 in Pharmaceutical Sciences
10. Must be registered with the GPhC
Experience
Essential
11. Good clinical pharmacy knowledge, including terminology.
12. Knowledge and understanding of pharmacy law and ethics and current legislation.
13. Evidence of continued professional development
14. Previous work experience in a pharmacy or healthcare setting
15. Experience of dealing directly with the public/patients.
16. Ideally, previous work experience in primary care.
17. Preferably experience of clinical audit.
18. Ability to work effectively, independently and as part of a multi-skilled team.
19. Computer literate in Microsoft Office packages.
20. Accurate and detail oriented.
21. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
22. Ability to work under pressure in a busy environment.
23. Ability to plan, prioritise and organise workload.
24. Able to adapt and adjust to changing environments, guidance, and protocols.
Desirable
25. Experience of using TPP's SystmOne clinical system is desirable.
