Special Needs Assistant Roles in Preston - Starting September

We're currently recruiting skilled Special Needs Assistants to provide support for special educational needs in primary schools across Preston. The hourly rate for these roles is competitive, ranging from £13 to £16 per hour. We have a variety of positions available, addressing a wide range of SEN needs, including Autism, ADHD, behavioral challenges, cognitive delay, Down syndrome, and hearing impairments. We'll match you to a role that aligns with your specific experience and skill set.
What the role involves:
* Ad-hoc work: This may include providing general classroom support, assisting with class preparation, or covering temporary gaps, either with individuals or small groups.
* Long-term commitments: These roles require you to be an active part of the classroom team, working closely with a specific child on a one-to-one basis. This includes collaborating with teachers, preparing resources, adapting content for the child's needs, and communicating effectively with staff and parents. You may also be asked to assist with wider school contributions like break/lunchtime supervision, assemblies, and school trips.
To be a successful candidate, you'll need prior SEN experience or a strong understanding of special needs support. Please be aware that an interview or observation with the school may be part of the application process.
Your responsibilities will include:
* Creating resources and activities for one-to-one support tailored to a child's needs.
* Collaborating with classroom teachers and the SENCO to plan appropriate activities.
* Liaising with other professionals such as teachers, TAs, and specialist support staff.
* Working with classes, small groups, and individual children.
* Monitoring and tracking the development of the pupil you are supporting.
Essential requirements:
* Experience working with young people.
* Confidence in managing challenging behaviors.
* The ability to engage with and build rapport with children.
* A creative, proactive, and flexible approach to support.
* Experience with SEN or knowledge of learning difficulties.
* TA qualification is beneficial.
