Lead and manage members of the show systems engineering team with a focus on video and lighting systems
Help to define and implement departmental standards, workflows, and design methodologies.
Support the Technical Directors in strategic planning, team development, and business growth.
Oversee concept, schematic, and detailed design of all video and lighting systems, ensuring technical feasibility and alignment with creative intent on larger projects.
Produce and review concept, schematic, and detailed design of all AVCL systems on smaller projects.
Produce and review system documentation including concept sketches, schematics, equipment specifications, rack elevations, and cable schedules.
Collaborate with other disciplines and department — show control, audio, scenic, AV, and mechanical — to deliver cohesive systems.
Provide technical oversight during mock-ups, testing, integration, and commissioning phases.
Client & Project Management
Act as the senior technical point of contact for clients on all video and lighting matters on large projects.
Act as the project lead for clients on all SSE disciplines (AVCL) on smaller projects.
Present designs and strategies to clients, creative partners, and project stakeholders in a clear and compelling manner.
Coordinate with external vendors, integrators, and specialist contractors to ensure design intent and quality standards are maintained through fabrication and installation.
Champion research into emerging technologies in projection, LED, lighting control, and immersive media.
Contribute to company thought leadership and technical R&D initiatives, helping to position the consultancy as a global leader in themed entertainment technology.
Ensure all designs comply with relevant UK, EU, and international standards for electrical safety and structural integration.
Incorporate risk management, accessibility, and sustainability considerations into design solutions.
Minimum 8 years’ experience in video and/or lighting design for themed entertainment, visitor attractions, immersive experiences, or large-scale live environments.
Proven track record in delivering projects from concept through to commissioning, preferably within a consultancy or design studio environment.
Lighting systems: Pharos, ETC, MA Lighting, Strand, sACN, DMX, DALI.
Video systems: projection, LED display, media servers (7th Sense, disguise, WATCHOUT, Hippotizer), and video processing.
Control & networking: working knowledge of show control and protocols (Medialon, Alcorn McBride, Q-SYS), timecode, IP-based networks.
Exceptional design documentation and communication skills using tools such as AutoCAD, Vectorworks, Revit, and Adobe Creative Suite.
Strong interpersonal skills and experience working collaboratively with creative and technical stakeholders.
A collaborative leader with a balance of creative vision and technical precision.
Excellent communicator who can bridge creative and engineering disciplines.
Flexible and adaptable, with a willingness to travel internationally to support project delivery.
Familiarity with international building and electrical standards (BS, EN, IEC).
Experience mentoring or building technical teams.
