As part of the South West Prison Healthcare contract awarded to Oxleas NHS Trust in 2022, we are expanding recruitment and are looking for compassionate, knowledgeable and motivated Medicine Management Pharmacy Technicians to join our friendly team at HMP Bristol on bank.
Role context

Responsibilities
* Provide a medicines management service to patients within the prison with the professional support of a prison service pharmacist.
* Administer medicines to patients against a valid prescription, ensuring it is taken correctly, and provide advice on the appropriate use of medicines while promoting healthy lifestyles to aid rehabilitation.
* Dispense prescriptions and stock items; supervise assistants in the dispensary; undertake stock control, including stock top‑up services and reviewing expiry dates and storage facilities; report deficiencies to the prison service pharmacist.
* Attend weekly clinical visits to the allocated prison(s); perform stock top‑up services; review expiry dates and storage facilities; provide advice to prisoners and staff on the use of medicines; undertake controlled drugs stock checks and report issues.
* Demonstrate ongoing professional development and participate in clinical and departmental audits as required.
* Adhere to all prison procedures and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and manage own workload within medicines management services.
* Work towards accreditation as a checking technician and/or medicines administration to provide final dispensing checks and medicines administration services, if not already achieved.
* Undertake any other tasks as required by the Lead Prison Services Pharmacist.
Qualifications
* Registered Pharmacy Technician with the appropriate governing body and licensed where applicable.
* Experience within a medicines management service and dispensing environment preferred.
* Ability to work in a secure prison setting, with commitment to patient care and rehabilitation.
Additional information
* All applicants must be willing to undertake National Security Vetting to work in a Prison Setting. This will be completed as part of pre‑employment checks.
* Proof of right to work, proof of ID (including one photographic ID), proof of address, and relevant documentation for non‑UK passport holders (right to work in the UK and Home Office share code) will be required.
* Five years of address history are needed; if less than five years, a Police Certificate in English from previous residences may be required. UK passport holders who have resided abroad for more than six months in the last three years may need a certificate of good conduct or overseas police check.
