Are you driven to make a real difference in children's lives? Join our dedicated team as a Support Worker and create an environment where every child feels secure, valued, and loved.
We are seeking full-time (38hpw) Support Workers to join our team in St Albans, working with young people who love staying active, trying new activities, and exploring new places. You'll work a mixture of early shifts from 7am - 3pm, late shifts from 2pm - 10pm, as well as alternating weekends.
You will support young people with learning disabilities in all aspects of their daily lives, bringing your good humour and resilience to make each day both enjoyable and meaningful. From helping them get ready for school and preparing meals to assisting with household chores, you'll see young people's confidence grow as they achieve new milestones. Your reassuring, calm presence will provide stability - you'll act as a guide through structured days and teach essential life skills.
While the young people are at school, you'll help make their home a welcoming place to return to by tidying and preparing the weekly activity plan for predictable and engaging evenings. You'll also assist with personal care and medication to help each young person feel their best. Additionally, you'll have opportunities for personal development through bespoke training and working towards a Level 3 Diploma in Residential Childcare.
During the school holidays and weekends, you'll help ease the transition from school routines to having fun by supporting the young people on exciting outings like visiting the beach or theme parks, as well as engaging with each young person's interests:
* Laura* enjoys creative activities like painting nails, colouring, and working on art projects. She also loves swimming and attends a weekly drama class where she expresses herself and builds confidence.
* Samantha* loves spending time at local parks, engaging in play and conversation with staff, and is a keen baker. She also likes watching baking videos to gain some inspiration, and is especially interested in the Olympics.
* Ben* enjoys taking the bus into town for a hot chocolate, going to trampoline parks, and relaxing with animated films on his iPad.
If you're compassionate, dedicated, and really care about helping young people reach their full potential, we'd love to hear from you.
Due to occupational requirements, we are only able to progress with applications from female candidates for this vacancy.
You must be a driver with a UK manual/automatic licence, as you will be driving service vehicles to unlock opportunities for the children. You must also have your own transport that is insured for business use.
*Names changed for anonymity.
