Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary
NHS Dumfries and Galloway have an exciting opportunity for a pharmacist to join our clinical oncology pharmacy team as a specialist pharmacist. Working 14.8 hours / week (Monday and Friday) we are looking for someone who would like to further their hospital career or who would like to gain experience in a speciality within a hospital pharmacy setting joining an experienced, supportive and friendly team.
The hospital pharmacy is based in Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary, a district general hospital in Dumfries in beautiful South West Scotland. The pharmacy in this new hospital ,which opened in 2017, benefits from electronic prescribing, robotics, new aseptic unit and provides hospital services across the wider Dumfries and Galloway Health board area. The district general hospital supports medical specialities, surgical specialities and trauma, emergency medicine, critical care and womens and childrens, in addition to cancer services enabling the successful candidate to experience a wide range of clinical specialities .
The successful candidate will join the clinical oncology pharmacy team covering oncology and haematology daycase and the aseptic pharmacy dispensing service. They will be supported to further their foundation training and prescribing qualification. There may be a requirement to join the weekend rota and on-call service in due course.
Dumfries situated in South West Scotland with easy access to the Scottish Central belt, northern England and Northern Ireland. This is a rural health board and the area benefits from a beautiful coast line, hills and forestry and is a haven for those enjoying outside pursuits.
The hours will be worked between 8am and 8pm seven days/week and will include participation in our weekend and on-call service.

As from 1st April 2026, the Agenda for Change full-time working week will be reducing from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part time hours will be reduced pro-rata. However, there will be a corresponding increase in the hourly rate so that pay will not be affected.
