Overview of the Role
As our Energy Unit continues to grow, we are seeking a Contract Manager to join our team with a bias towards UK infrastructure consultancy contract management. You will have the opportunity to gain experience in a wide variety of commercial disciplines including contract reviews, contract advice, cross border delivery, disputes, claims, tax and insurance.
Key Responsibilities
* Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of commercial agreements, including consultancy agreements, framework agreements, memorandums of understanding and non-disclosure agreements
* Conduct commercial reviews to identify departures from our governance (which will be taught) and assist project teams in obtaining the necessary internal approvals where appropriate
* Draft and update commercial guidance to raise awareness of recurrent topics and new regulations in key markets and jurisdictions
* Assisting Divisional Commercial Managers and other members of unit team. This may include leading on commercial risk management for our projects
* Manage and resolution of claims supported by our internal Commercial and Legal functions
* Support other Mott MacDonald functions in support of governance including liaison with the Legal Department, Ethics & Compliance, Data Protection and our Insurance teams
Candidate Specification
Essential
* Understanding of UK infrastructure contract law and use of standardised contracts (e.g. New Engineering Contract)
* Good practical experience of the application of legal principles and commercial law
* Great analytical skills
* Ability to multitask, problem solve, and balance competing priorities
* Ability to communicate effectively and confidently with a wide range of stakeholders
* Ability to work autonomously or as part of a bigger team
* Engineering or similar degree can be considered combined with relevant experience.
Desirable
* Preferably relevant experience either in large engineering or construction company.
* Experience in Utilities/Consultancy/Infrastructure
* A proven track record of advising on contract matters across a range of jurisdictions is a distinct advantage.
* Experience of delivering contract reviews, drafting and negotiations
