About the Role
We are seeking a committed and resilient Cover Supervisor to support pupils with Special Educational Needs (SEN) and Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs across primary and secondary school settings. This is a rewarding role for someone passionate about helping young people overcome barriers to learning and achieve their full potential.
As a Cover Supervisor, you will supervise classes during the short-term absence of teaching staff, ensuring pupils remain engaged in learning while maintaining a safe, structured, and supportive environment.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver pre-planned lessons and activities in the absence of teaching staff
* Provide tailored support to pupils with SEN and SEMH needs
* Promote positive behaviour and de-escalate challenging situations calmly and effectively
* Build positive relationships with pupils, staff, and support services
* Adapt learning activities to meet individual needs and abilities
* Follow school safeguarding, behaviour, and inclusion policies at all times
The Ideal Candidate
* Experience working with children or young people with SEN and/or SEMH needs (essential)
* Confident managing classroom behaviour in a supportive and consistent manner
* Calm, patient, and emotionally resilient
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
* A genuine passion for supporting vulnerable learners
* Relevant qualifications or training (e.g. education, psychology, youth work) desirable but not essential
