About The Role
We’re representing a forward-thinking engineering group at the forefront of the UK’s clean energy transition. This organisation designs, builds, and connects large-scale renewable and high-voltage infrastructure projects across the country — from grid connections to cutting-edge generation schemes.
Due to sustained growth, they’re now seeking a Senior Electrical Project Engineer to join their team in Glasgow. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced engineer to take ownership of complex projects, lead multidisciplinary teams, and play a key role in delivering the next generation of sustainable energy systems.
The Role
You’ll oversee the full delivery cycle of multiple high-voltage and renewable energy projects — managing design, procurement, construction, and commissioning phases. The role combines both hands-on technical expertise and strong leadership, ensuring every project is completed safely, efficiently, and to the highest standards.
You’ll act as a trusted link between clients, grid operators, and internal design teams, driving collaboration and excellence across all stages of delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Take technical and managerial ownership of electrical infrastructure projects from initial scope through to completion.
* Provide leadership and mentoring for project engineers, supporting their development and performance.
* Manage commercial aspects of each project, including cost forecasting, progress tracking, and financial reporting (project values typically £1M–£10M).
* Oversee procurement, review supplier tenders, and ensure best value and compliance.
* Ensure rigorous health, safety, and environmental standards are met throughout project delivery.
* Chair and contribute to stakeholder meetings, ensuring clear communication and alignment.
* Coordinate with internal design teams to finalise schematics, layouts, and commissioning documentation.
* Manage logistics, materials, and site coordination to achieve delivery milestones.
* Drive continuous improvement across project processes, quality, and safety performance.
Your Profile
You’ll be an adaptable, commercially aware engineer who enjoys taking accountability and leading people as much as managing technical delivery.
Experience Required
* 5+ years’ experience delivering electrical or high-voltage projects within renewables, utilities, or infrastructure sectors.
* Degree or HND in Electrical Engineering, Project Management, or equivalent.
* Demonstrated ability to manage multidisciplinary project teams and contractors.
* Strong understanding of HV systems and grid connection principles.
* Excellent communication, client management, and negotiation skills.
* Organised, proactive, and detail-focused, with strong IT and reporting skills (MS Office).
* Professional registration (IEng/CEng) or working towards it is beneficial.
* Flexibility to travel across UK sites as required.
* Full UK driving licence and unrestricted right to work in the UK.
What’s On Offer
* Company vehicle or car allowance.
* Annual profit share bonus.
* Contributory pension plan.
* Private healthcare and wellbeing support.
* 25 days’ annual leave plus bank holidays.
* Life assurance and healthcare cashback plan.
* PPE and branded workwear provided.
* Employee Assistance Programme and mental health resources.
* Excellent career development, professional training, and chartership support.
* Optional holiday purchase and cycle-to-work scheme.
* Free parking and electric vehicle charging facilities at key locations.
