Main Purpose of this role:
The senior purchase ledger assistant's role is to support the Accounts Payable function here at Ipswich Town Football Club. To uphold high standards across all entities in the Group, including processing invoices, producing payment runs and reconciling statements of account. As the department starts to go paperless, play a key role in digitising AP invoices and files. This role will also be a cover for Purchase Ledger Supervisor during periods of absence
Key Responsibilities:
* Support all finance team members with tasks and processes within their respective areas.
* Ensure all invoices are processed accurately and on time.
* Maintain and strengthen relationships with suppliers, addressing queries and resolving issues promptly.
* Manage and review payment runs, ensuring compliance with company policies and procedures.
* Process staff expenses, including posting journal onto Sage, in time for payroll.
* Process monthly Barclaycard statements, ensuring all returns are submitted each month, to clear the debit balance created by the direct debit payment taken.
* Reconcile supplier statements and ensure discrepancies are addressed effectively.
* Support month-end processes, including preparing reports and assisting with audits as required.
* Promote professional development and best practices.
* Collaborate with other departments to enhance financial processes and systems.
* Ensure compliance with relevant regulations and internal controls.
Essential Criteria:
* Experience in an accounts payable or purchase ledger role.
* Proficiency in accounting software and Microsoft office.
* Strong communication skills, excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
* Strong understanding of accounting and finance principles.
* Self-motivated and keen to learn.

Desirable Criteria:
* Experience using Sage intacct.
AAT Level 4 or similar.
What good looks like:
· Purchase invoices processed accurately and without errors, with enough detail to support the management accounts
· Invoices paid on time, avoiding duplicates or overpayments
· Collaborate with other departments to enhance financial processes and systems
· Weekly supplier statement reconciliations, ensuring the ledgers are up to date and accurate
